PRN - Occupational Therapist Assistant COTA  The primary purpose of the position is providing and directing occupational therapy services to patients, which may include adult and/or geriatric persons. The goal of helping them reach their maximum performance potential within a medical model of practice shall occur.  
QUALIFICATIONS:  
Someone performing these duties should be in good physical condition and possess the following physical capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodations 
  • A person who is a graduate and meets the requirements for certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
  • Certification is maintained by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. 
  • Must maintain valid state licensure 
  • Use of proper body mechanics and techniques for bearing weight 
  • Lift objects weighing 50-100 pounds or more 
  • Push or pull force up to 35 lbs. 
Job Responsibilities 
  • Returns the individual to Optimum and productive level within the patient’s capabilities
  • Participates with all other SNF personnel in patient care planning
  • Performs all skilled procedures as ordered by the physician and according to the plan of care established by the OT.
  • Consults with OT regarding a change in treatment. 
  • Instructs patients and family members in home programs and fine motor movement exercises
  • Participates in in-service education and presents in-service programs as assigned. 
  • Monitors patient’s response to intervention and modifies treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with plan and physician orders. 
  • Must be able to work independently with periodic (daily or less) support and directions. 
  • Documents all results of the patient’s assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services. 
  • Adapts treatment to meet the individual needs of the patient. 
  • Provides, recommends, and fabricates adaptive devices or other equipment.  Trains patients, family, and staff in the use or application of orthotics and prosthetics. 
  • Adheres to all documentation requirements of the Rehabilitation department, facility, and company.
  • Contributes to a positive work team by sharing information, using problem-solving methods, accepting new ideas, constructive feedback, and advice from others.

Compensation: $30.00 per hour
