We are excited to announce a job rotation opportunity for an Office Specialist 2 to join the Security Office team at the Deer Ridge Correctional Institution. This position offers valuable experience in providing administrative and confidential clerical services, supporting daily operations, and building strong working relationships across the institution and with partner agencies.

This position is a job rotation anticipated to last 12 months, though may be extended or decreased due to business need. This rotation is available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision with their current manager's approval.
About the Job- Your Role
This role provides critical administrative and clerical support, ensuring the smooth and timely operation of daily Security functions. The person in this position will assist with ISDS updates, timesheet and payroll compliance, filing and records management, supply ordering, and provide backup support to both the Staff Deployment Coordinator and the Assignment Office.
Key Duties
- Assist and provide backup to the Staff Deployment Coordinator and Security Executive Support Specialist.
- Maintain accurate ISDS records, timesheets, overtime documentation, and leave requests.
- Provide clerical support including filing, creating DPSST folders, ordering supplies, and assisting with special projects.
- Support Captains, Lieutenants, and Training Supervisor with assigned administrative tasks.
- Provide coverage for the Assignment Office, including AIC inquiries, bunk moves, and OIC/Operations mail distribution.
- Offer cross-training to other sections as needed.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents;
OR
An associate degree in any field;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requested Skills
- Experience maintaining accurate records such as timesheets, payroll documentation, and leave requests.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment while meeting strict deadlines.
- Hands-on experience using office software and systems, including ISDS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated communication experience preparing correspondence, providing clerical support, and interacting with staff at all levels.
- Background in organizing and maintaining filing systems, supply inventories, and administrative records.
- Experience providing backup or cross-training support to other staff or offices during absences or peak workload periods.

Working Conditions
Performance of this position may involve sitting for long periods of time and may at times involve standing for long periods of time. The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

About the Process- What to Expect

Requirements for Employment
The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
