Job SummaryThe Oiler is responsible for performing scheduled lubrication and maintenance of heavy equipment at various construction sites, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of heavy equipment used in earth-moving operations. This role involves operating a fuel and lube truck to service equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and graders. The position is critical to minimizing equipment downtime, enhancing project efficiency, and supporting the organization’s goal of delivering high-quality construction projects safely and on schedule.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct scheduled lubrication and oiling of heavy equipment, including greasing fittings, changing oil, and replacing filters according to maintenance schedules.
  • Operate and maintain a fuel and lube truck to deliver fuel, lubricants, and other fluids to equipment at construction sites.
  • Inspect equipment for signs of wear, leaks, or potential mechanical issues and report findings to maintenance planner.
  • Maintain accurate records of lubrication schedules, fluid usage, and equipment condition.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of lubricants and hazardous materials in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist mechanics with minor repairs and preventative maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment on construction sites.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, including lubrication systems and fluid requirements for construction machinery.
  • Ability to operate and maintain fuel and lube trucks and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and adherence to strict maintenance schedules.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to identify equipment issues.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with maintenance teams and site supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic field environments under varying weather conditions.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, lubrication, or a related field, preferably in construction or mining environments.
  • Experience operating fuel and lube trucks is highly desirable.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL): A Class A or B CDL is required.
  • Endorsements: Must possess a Hazmat (Hazardous Materials) endorsement and a Tanker endorsement
Work Environment
  • Field-based role at earth-moving construction sites, working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to equipment/vehicle hazards, heights/subsurface levels, dust/fumes, chemicals, confined spaces, traffic hazards, loud noise levels and various weather conditions.
  • Frequent travel between equipment locations within construction sites.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., lubricant containers, tools).
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and climbing on and around heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, such as accessing equipment components.
  • Requires manual dexterity for handling tools and operating truck controls.
Schedule
  • Monday through Friday, typical work hours are 10-12 hour shifts, with potential for extended hours based on project demands.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
