The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hiring range for this position is $20.76- $23.00/hour. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
In this position you can expect to work in-person, three to five days a week, This position will report to the Denver Post Building in Downtown Denver, however, will spend a substantial amount of time working in the field . This position requires movement around the city. Transportation will not be provided. Milage reimbursement is provided. This position is on call.

Denver Parks and Recreation's Forestry division is seeking an Operations Assistant to….
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Act as citizen and stakeholder interface for tree planting projects and initiatives; act as liaison by providing technical support and customer service to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the Office of City Forester operations and apply them appropriately
- Conduct site visits and field inspections to evaluate tree health, ensure appropriate tree planting sites, and/or verify tree protection zones; evaluate and monitor new or existing procedures for effectiveness and prepare preliminary recommendations for improvements as appropriate
- Collect, evaluate, and maintain related tree data (e.g. tree inventory data); prepare reports and analyses to further initiatives and improvements
- Assist Forestry staff as needed during major storm events in Denver such as fielding phone calls/emails, documentation and other related tasks as needed

This position is a great opportunity for someone looking to learn more about urban forestry operations (both in-field work and office related tasks) while contributing to Denver's community. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in arboriculture with knowledge of trees/tree planting and strong customer service skills. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Urban Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture, Landscape Design or a related field
- Experience with tree planting, proper site identification and establishment
- Knowledge of tree identification
- Knowledge of tree risk assessment
- Experience with various computer programs and devices such as: tree inventory programs (e.g. TreeKeeper), Microsoft Office suite, and mobile device/tablet use
- Experience with email and phone communication in a customer service setting
- ISA Arborist Certification
Required Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of clerical or technical operational support.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
By position, requires certification in CPR/First Aid at the time of application or within six months of probation.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
