Job Description

In this role you will be:

  • Responsible for the OR inventory including daily patient charges and verifying supply replenishment, returns, and repairs.
  • Identifying all patient charges daily for all total joints, bipolar, and other procedures, verifying that supplies have been charged appropriately.
  • Verifying that all charges are closed before running the daily purchasing support report.
  • Assisting with daily cycle counts of each surgical specialty supply and entering the required inventory adjustments in the system.
  • Reviewing the purchasing supply report and verifying the items to be purchased with the purchasing department.
  • Responsible for ordering specialty instrumentation trays or other requested specialty sterile supplies for OR surgeries and communicating this with the OR charge nurse and the OR supply chain coordinator.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between the sales force and the OR staff on behalf of the MM department.
  • Assisting with the delivery of case carts from central processing to the OR.
  • Responsible for checking case carts for accuracy and completeness.
  • Receiving the daily stock deliveries from the general storeroom and receiving, validating the receiving reports vs the supplies received, then restocking the supplies to the appropriate locations.
  • Tracking back orders and working with materials management staff to ensure delivery of needed supplies.
  • Applying charge labels on all chargeable products daily.
  • Organizing and replenishing all OR storage areas as required.
  • Labeling and cleaning the 4th floor storage area as required.
  • Investigating all product recalls and working to remove supplies from the shelf as suggested.
  • Assisting with receiving Bill Only invoices from vendors and submitting those to the OR supply chain coordinator to create the required purchase order.
  • Performing monthly product expiration date checks on all supplies.
  • Noting the supplies expiring within 3 months and working to receive vendor credit/replacement, uses in another department, or selling items through a third-party vendor.
  • Attending and participating in all required meetings, in-services, and education such as CPR, trauma, universal precautions, product introduction and utilization team, and online education.
  • Participating in team and committee meetings.
  • Assisting materials management and accounting with pricing and quantity issues on invoices as needed.
  • Performing cost studies for products as directed by the OR supply coordinator.
  • Participating in quality control programs.
  • Accepting and completing other duties as assigned.
  • Able to multitask.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree preferred
  • EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years experience working with supplies in an OR environment
  • Recent experience working in an OR technologist role

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • OR technology certification preferred
  • Certified Surgical Technologist
