JOB DESCRIPTION
The New York office of Alston & Bird LLP is seeking an experienced paralegal to support the Finance Practice Group. This paralegal will assist attorneys in all stages of corporate and finance transactions, and with the preparation of documents necessary to comply with federal, state and local regulations in the conduct of business activities. The paralegal should have experience with residential mortgages and/or residential mortgage-backed securities preferred. Overtime is often needed to meet client deadlines.Position is eligible for remote flexibility. Details will be discussed during the interview process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manage and assist with the closing of various transactions, including preparation, coordination and organization of closing sets.
Collaborate with attorneys to draft and prepare various legal documents in connection with asset purchase, finance and securitization transactions.
Perform due diligence processes, which involve examining the financial and legal backgrounds of parties involved in a transaction.
Experience with residential mortgages and/or residential mortgage-backed securities preferred
Prepare and coordinate Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings.
Conduct legal research to ensure compliance with UCC provisions as it relates to state-specific UCC laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate and organized records of all document and transactions, including tracking deadlines and ensuring compliance with UCC filing requirements.
Liaison Establish relationships and effectively liaise with clients and vendors on a regular basis.
Proofread and quality control over documents.
Organize and work with lawyers to execute deadlines.
SKILLS NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
Strong organization, proofreading, and time-management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
Must have a high level of customer service with the ability to build strong positive team relationships.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all financial matters.
Work typically requires more than 35 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
3-5+ Years of experience residential mortgages and/or residential mortgage-backed securities preferred.
Completion of a four-year college degree is required, paralegal certificate optional.
Notary public preferred.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 and represents the Firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at this time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and locations. This range is specific to our New York City office and may not be applicable to other locations.
