JOB SUMMARY
Special Victim Unit/Child Abuse Informations, Running Priors for Unit/Block, Filing, Scanning, Subpoena/Victim Packets, Discovery Requests, Writs
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Informations: Prepare Bill of Information for the Child Abuse/Special Victim Unit cases to proceed through the Court System 35%
Writs: preparing writs for defendants to be brought in from out of county prisons for the SV Unit 20%
Scheduling: Preliminary hearings, SVP hearings, Sentencings, etc. 15%
Discovery Requests: Requesting discovery from Police Depts., attaching to file, copying and sending to Def. Atty. 5%
Subpoena/Victim Packets: Sends subpoenas for witnesses/victims, and victim packets on required files. 5%
Running Priors: Run priors for all Special Victim/Child Abuse Unit cases and for assigned Block Hearings on a daily basis 20%
OTHER SPECIFIC TASKS OR DUTIES
Perform other duties as assigned.
Scanning current files
Help with the main phones when needed
Attend Pre-Trials/Status Conferences when needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED; relevant post high education and training is desirable
Minimum of two (2) years clerical experience in an office setting
Able to use and create documents using Word Perfect 12, Microsoft Word and Excel
Able to multi-task and organize work
Able to maintain confidentiality
Any equivalent training, knowledge, and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Minimum keyboard requirement: 50 WPM
Knowledge of Criminal Justice Systems and its related forms beneficial
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/CLEARANCES
Subject to security and background checks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily sedentary in nature, no special demands are required
NOTES
Responsibilities within your unit require proper attendance and notification for taking any time off for vacation, personal and/or making appointments outside the office.
This is a major concern during criminal court terms, where you may be needed to perform duties with very short notice.
You must make all attempts to give your supervisor proper notice (minimum of a weeks notice) for any time off that you may require.
Last minute requests may be denied.
