The Real Estate Paralegal provides comprehensive support to attorneys in the Real Estate practice group with complex real estate transactions, preparation and management of legal documents, conducting research, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. There is an annual billing component of 1500 hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and analyze a wide range of real estate documents, including purchase agreements, leases, and closing documents.
Conduct thorough research, including title and survey reviews, zoning analysis, and environmental assessments.
Review and analyze title and survey documents; write reports/summaries for attorney review and work directly with title offices and surveyors to address title and survey issues.
Prepare real estate transaction documents including due diligence and closing agendas.
Prepare transaction authorizing resolutions and basic lease abstracts.
Prepare real property valuation calculations for property value tax appeals.
Monitor and meet deadlines; establish priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Organize and manage transaction files and deadlines to ensure on-time closings.
Coordinate closing requirements and documentation with local counties.
File and record documents for specified jurisdictions.
Review settlement statements.
Work closely with attorneys, other paralegals, and staff across practice groups to facilitate seamless transaction processes.
Assist with UCC-1 Lien searches.
Assist with formation and maintenance of corporate entities.
Maintain and organize electronic and physical files in accordance with firm policies and procedures.
Track and record billable and non-billable hours accurately to meet firm requirements.
Availability to work overtime when necessary or requested.
Maintain confidential information for client and matter-related activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills.
Proficient in document management systems (e.g., iManage) and legal research tools.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to provide high quality client service to both internal and external clients in a professional manner.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment with changing assignments and priorities.
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or any combination of training, education, experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
Paralegal certification from an ABA recognized program highly beneficial.
Minimum eight (8) years of experience as a Real Estate paralegal.
Notary Public commission beneficial.
