Job Description

Title: Part-Time House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep Support)

Location: Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

Employment Type: Part-time (~15 hours/week)

Schedule: Flexible 3–4 days per week between Monday–Thursday, structured collaboratively based on candidate preference. Core coverage needed 3:30–6:30 PM at least two days per week.

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $37–$40 per hour (based on experience)

About Our Family

We are a kind, calm family of four living in Hermosa Beach. Our home has a quiet, grounding energy — we value order, thoughtfulness, and the small details that make a home feel cared for. We both work, with one parent frequently traveling for business. We maintain two nearby properties (10 miles apart) and appreciate someone who can keep daily systems and routines flowing smoothly, especially during travel periods.

This position combines household management (about 60–70%) with family support (about 30–40%), with a particular focus on organization and meal preparation. Hours will begin at approximately 15 per week, with potential to increase to 20 as the role evolves.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain tidiness and organization throughout the home, including closet rotations, storage systems, and pantry restocks
  • Prepare spaces for cleaning service and ensure supplies are well stocked
  • Support seasonal organization projects (clothing swaps, holiday prep, storage transitions)
  • Manage vendor quotes, scheduling, and supply lists for household tasks
  • Coordinate donation pickups/dropoffs and vendor appointments
  • Coordinate frequent travel preparation and post-travel reset (packing, laundry, restocking, home readiness)

Inventory & Errands

  • Track and restock household supplies (pantry, cleaning, toiletries)
  • Run errands as needed for groceries, returns, and household projects

Meal Support

  • Plan and prepare family meals 3 days per week following provided recipes
  • Pack children's lunches and prep snacks in advance
  • Chop produce and portion weekly meal prep components
  • Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness after meal prep
  • Respect dietary preferences (vegetarian-friendly, shellfish allergy, occasional light meat meals)

Laundry & Linens

  • Manage household laundry including children's clothing and linens
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and stocked with supplies

Family Support

  • Handle school pick-up (Mon–Thu around 4:15 PM) and handoff to parent at home
  • Provide date-night babysitting and occasional overnight care (maximum 1–2× per year with notice)
  • Manage kid-related laundry, toy rotation, and closet organization
  • Maintain clear communication with parents and adjust to schedule changes

Vehicle Upkeep

  • Oversee cleaning, organization, and fueling for family vehicles

Property & Vendor Coordination

  • Visit second property (approx. 9 miles away) to meet vendors or service providers as needed
  • Coordinate home projects and maintenance with vendors and contractors

Pet Care

  • Provide daily care for the family's medium-size dog (once adopted): afternoon walks and occasional feeding

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Support organization projects during family travel periods and assist with event prep, setup, and cleanup
