Job Description
General Summary: Western Engineering Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified Paving Foreman/Superintendent for our Paving Division for full-time employment. Western Engineering is a local contractor that is based in Loomis and performs work in the greater Sacramento area and surrounding foothills. Western Engineering is a reputable company that has been rooted in the industry for over 40 years.Essential Functions:
- Study specifications and plan procedures to determine timing, staffing requirements, and equipment/tools needed for the project.
- Consult with Estimators on bids.
- Review contracts and purchase orders.
- Consult with Project Managers on cost-to-complete estimates, billing support documentation, and schedules as needed.
- Visit job sites regularly to effectively direct, coordinate, and support foremen and crews in the division.
- Ensure foremen understand and operate within the project budget.
- Inform Project Managers of any changes occurring in the field.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure quality and conformity to plans.
- Work safely and maintain a safe workplace in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
- Ensure compliance with submittals, client schedules, and proper scheduling of WEC vendors.
- Provide technical expertise and make decisions that protect and benefit both the company and the customer.
- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor invoices prior to payment.
- Ensure field teams process Daily Extra Work Reports (DEWRs) in a timely manner.
- Participate in the overall management and planning activities of the company.
- Maintain regular client contact and document significant verbal communications.
- Attend bi-weekly scheduling meetings, departmental meetings, and weekly foremen’s or project meetings at job sites as needed.
- Interact effectively and professionally with other employees and customers.
- Experienced in blueprint reading, elementary surveying, construction methods, and supervision
- Provides full support to foremen
- Effective communicator in English
- Strong planning, training, and motivational skills
- Ability to monitor financial performance and manage change
- Knowledgeable in construction equipment
- Familiar with local site conditions, agency standards, local vendors, and subcontractors
- Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations
- Understanding of specific agency specifications and requirements in area of expertise
- Aware of employee certification requirements in area of expertise
