Description:

Cosentino's Food Stores is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our employees. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of payroll principles, possess excellent analytical skills, and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. This position requires someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively within a team environment and interacting with employees regarding payroll-related inquiries.

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for a designated group of employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Utilize Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to input and maintain employee payroll data, including wages, deductions, and benefits.
  • Review and audit payroll data for discrepancies, resolving issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including summaries, and reconcile payroll accounts.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment processes and benefits administration, providing support to employees.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits, providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information and adhere to data privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with the HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and time management to meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiencies within the payroll function.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • General knowledge of payroll principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with payroll processing software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with problem-solving and resolving payroll-related issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.
  • Experience with benefits enrollment and administration.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems.
