Job Summary:
MaineGeneral Health is hiring a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the surgical process by delivering compassionate, holistic care to patients before, during, and after surgery. You'll ensure patient safety and comfort, support positive outcomes, and collaborate with a skilled multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care.

Position: Perioperative Registered Nurse
Location: Thayer Center for Health, Waterville
Schedule: Part-time (36 hours/week)
Shift: Days (M-F, no call, weekends or holidays)
Position Highlights:
- This position is M-F with no call, weekends, or holidays. However, there is an expectation of cross-campus training to be able to float to the Alfond Center for Health if needed.
What You'll Do:
- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Maintains and troubleshoots surgical equipment. Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
What We're Looking For:
- Current State of Maine RN license (or ability to obtain promptly).
- Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience preferred.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and team members.
