Job Description
Position: Pharmacy Technician Project Lead – Pharmacy Quality
The Pharmacy Technician Project Lead - Pharmacy Quality will help ensure that Monogram Health’s pharmacy department’s work processes adhere to strict quality standards and ultimately meet the evolving needs of our patients. This role is responsible for performing quality assessments and audits of work performed by the Pharmacy Technicians, developing job aids and training materials for the medication therapy management (MTM) and pharmacy performance programs, providing support during audits of Monogram Pharmacy Department processes, and performing work consistent with that of a pharmacy technician.â¯â¯ This role is ideal for someone who wants to contribute to an innovative program that improves member medication outcomes by working with pharmacists, technicians, members, and providers to maximize health outcomes. Experience in pharmacy benefit operations and assessment, pharmacy program management functions, and internal and external audits, preferably in a managed care context, is required.â¯
Roles and Responsibilities
- Pharmacy Quality Program - Time Allocation: 50%â¯
- Participates in the development, maintenance, and education of departmental policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)â¯â¯
- Performs audits of Monogram Pharmacy Technicians of completed work, evaluating for:â¯
- Adherence to departmental policies, SOPs, and clinical quality standardsâ¯
- Consistency with Medicare STARs/ HEDIS Quality metrics and regulatory requirementsâ¯
- In collaboration with the Sr Director and Pharmacists within Pharmacy Quality Program, maintains and reports individual and departmental quality metricsâ¯â¯
- Provides support during internal and external audits of Monogram’s Pharmacy Department processes.â¯â¯
- Future growth may include support of the Quality Program through leadership of pharmacy technicians who complete audits and other work related to Pharmacy Quality
- Direct Patient Care - Time Allocation: 30%â¯
- Assists pharmacists and technicians with medication interventions consistent with established protocols, focusing on interventions related to CMS STARS and HEDIS Quality Measuresâ¯
- Assists with preparation and distribution of comprehensive medication reviews (CMRs) and other medication interventionsâ¯â¯â¯
- Compares medication lists and accurately reconcile medicationsâ¯â¯â¯
- Facilitates patient, pharmacy, and medical provider communications via phone or faxâ¯â¯â¯
- Contacts pharmacies to verify prescription information and status (new/changed prescriptions filled and stopped prescriptions cancelled), then communicate information to MH staff and patients as appropriate.â¯â¯â¯
- Assists with patient access to medications consistent with specific medication and prescription benefitsâ¯â¯â¯
- Works collaboratively with Monogram Health pharmacists, care managers, and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to assist with improving access and outcomes to medications.â¯â¯â¯
- Future growth may include leadership of pharmacy technicians who direct patient care related to Pharmacy Quality.â¯
- Miscellaneous - Time Allocation: 20%â¯â¯
- Participates⯠with the development and delivery of clinical and operational training materials and sessions for Monogram staff, both within and external to the Pharmacy Department with the goal of⯠building a standardized, evidence-based, and effective MTM program for Monogram clinical staff.â¯
- Supports Monogram and pharmacy leaders as necessary with⯠tasks required to deliver excellent personalized medication management services to our patients.â¯
- Perform all other job related duties as assigned, including⯠timely responses to urgent needs.â¯â¯â¯

Experience and Qualifications
- College degree preferred but not required.â¯
- Current, active CPhT and applicable state Pharmacy Technician license required. Must maintain CPhT and licensure.â¯â¯
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in and knowledge of pharmacy benefit and operations, and pharmacist and technician functions associated with pharmacy services (MTM, Medicare and Medicaid benefits)â¯
- Outpatient Medicare & Medicaid health plan experience through work at a health plan or a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) supporting a health plan.⯠This includes:â¯
- Internal and external audit experienceâ¯
- Experience with Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and/or Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) for people and processesâ¯â¯
- Working knowledge of Medicare Part D Pharmacy Program (benefits, formulary, MT<M, etc.) requirementsâ¯
- Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with coworkers, medical practices, and others.â¯
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointâ¯â¯
- Evidence of presentation skillsâ¯â¯
- Experience working in high-growth environment preferred.â¯â¯
