The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will provide overall supervision of the pharmacy technician staff. This position is responsible for managing the flow of the prescription fulfillment process optimizing day-to-day activities. This individual will work alongside management to improve efficiency in the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to complete pharmacy technician delegated tasks such as prepare medications, unpack and verify stock-to-invoices and help maintain the pharmacy area in proper order.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage day to day operations to ensure appropriate distribution of technician workload and streamlined workflow.
- Prepare daily technician work schedule and assign tasks to team members appropriately.
- Coordinate orientation and training of new employees as well as conduct follow-up to ensure training and checklists are complete.
- Responsible for evaluation and documentation of staff competency.
- Manage work schedules / attendance and coordinate coverage for time off requests.
- Optimize operational processes and procedures for maximum efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Responsible for maintaining and performing the highest achievable level of accuracy and work performance.
- Provide recommendations and suggestions for improvements in any aspect relating to increased performance.
- Track and report on operational performance.
- Assist with the implementation of new processes and procedures.
- Assist with maintaining policy and procedure documents and ensure all are followed.
- Screen, interview, and hire staff.
- Prepare and review performance evaluations.
- Address and document areas requiring behavior correction or performance.
- Maintains familiarity with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on experience to plan and accomplish all department goals.
- Efficiently perform a variety of complicated tasks and may be expected to perform some basic clerical duties relating to the department.
- Communicates clearly and effectively both in person and on the phone to patient care coordinators, pharmacists, management, and leadership team.
- Package medications appropriately using bottles or CuraPak pouches when needed.
- Reviews work for quality in the CuraPak staging phase; communicates with Patient Engagement team to address concerns.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise Pharmacy Technician I, II, and Senior level roles.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years' pharmacy technician experience.
- PTCB certified preferred (required may be location dependent)
- Must be a registered Pharmacy Technician in Georgia. Certification is a plus.
- Must be proficient in creating and editing documents with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
