Job Details

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, who reports to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, is responsible for the daily management of pharmacy technician and intern work performance and operational workflow. This includes the creation of staff schedules and ensuring the delivery of safe and effective medication therapy. Key responsibilities also involve the recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision and evaluation of staff, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance. This position also requires the supervisor to perform standard pharmacy technician duties as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

  • Ensures efficient use of resources balanced with developing and maintaining staffing schedules to meet operational needs. 

  • Supervise and coordinate the work activities of pharmacy technicians.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.

  • Address and resolve staff issues and conflicts.

  • Participate in the recruitment and hiring process of pharmacy technicians/interns

  • Serves as a liaison to the Pharmacy Management Team

  • Ensure that all pharmacy technicians are compliant with hospital policy, and state and federal regulation

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

  • Thorough understanding of necessary staffing levels utilizing an electronic scheduling system

  • Demonstrates financial stewardship regarding staffing levels

  • Ability to identify priorities and adjust work habits to address them.

  • Interpersonal communication skills (both written and oral) are required to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Demonstration of organizational skills and ability to keep accurate, orderly records.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required  

AND

Experience:

  • 5 years’ prior hospital pharmacy experience
