Job Description

Job/Position Summary

Photolithography Process Engineer will have a successful track record of delivering leading-edge process capability, yield, cost, and manufacturability. Must be able to develop and optimize standard production processes and projects related to photolithography requirements, standard operating procedures, equipment operation and maintenance, quality, statistical process control, and document control. Must be able to meet customer requirements through cross-functional/cross-company teams and operational support as required; improve product quality and delivery through evaluating existing and new processes and production equipment; and develop engineering improvements to increase quality, improve process capability, reduce cost, and improve overall process and tool reliability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform photoresist coating and development processes on glass wafers, ensuring uniform application and precise pattern transfer.

  • Operate and maintain exposure tools, including mask aligners, to accurately align photomasks and expose glass wafers.

  • Execute polyimide track operations, including coating and developing, following recipe/process parameters and cleanroom protocols.

  • Monitor and adjust equipment settings to maintain optimal performance and yield.

  • Conduct inspections using microscopes and metrology tools to verify pattern fidelity and process quality.

  • Document process steps, deviations, and results in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot and improve photolithography processes.

  • Design and optimize lithography overlay processes for leading-edge glass-ceramic technology.

  • Select and develop material and equipment for the process to meet quality, reliability, cost, yield, productivity, and manufacturability requirements.

  • Conduct process, equipment, and material development projects with equipment and material vendors.

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments necessary to meet engineering specifications.

  • Work effectively with vendors to identify shortcomings, propose, and evaluate hardware modifications to mitigate issues.

  • Drive improvements on quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability/capability, productivity, and safety/ergonomic over variables such as material, method, equipment, environment, and operating personnel.

  • Develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools.

  • Identify potential intellectual properties (IP) opportunities.

  • additional functions and other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, or an equivalent field
  • 3+ years of experience in semiconductor photolithography process and/or related equipment development
  • Technical expertise within semiconductor wafer processing engineering, preferably in logic or advanced packaging process development is required.
  • This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information, and employees in these roles will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident, or the ability to meet contract-specific licensure requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of photolithography and specifically track and exposure tools & processes.
  • Demonstrate experience with technical problem-solving skills, with multitasking.
  • Demonstrated experience working with external and internal partners, including leading-edge semiconductor equipment and/or materials manufacturers.
  • A fast learner, able to adapt to culture and technology.
  • Must be flexible in accommodating changing priorities and working hours to support business needs.

Physical/Working Requirements

  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day (where applicable).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
