Performs both diagnostic and therapeutic services under indirect supervision of a registered sleep tech. Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)

Description

  1. Provides safe and effective patient care that addresses age-specific variations related to clinical, educational, psychosocial and cultural needs.

  2. Monitors each patient during the sleep study and score sleep stages according to the guidelines from the AASM.

  3. Preparing each patient for the sleep study, reviewing their medical history, and applying sensing equipment and electrodes to them before they begin the study.

  4. During the sleep study the technologist monitors patient and records data.

  5. Collaborates with other team members and departments to facilitate patient care across the continuum.

  6. Maintains a clean and safe evironment conductive to meeting customer needs and regaulatory standards.

  7. Provides feedback, reports, & initiates changes to improve patient care and/or the work environment.

  8. Other duties as assigned.
