Job Description

Pool Manage- Part Time

The Pool Manager will report to the Pool Supervisor in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Director and is responsible for supporting the supervision of lifeguards. The Pool Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment and efficient aquatic programs for all users. This person will also serve as a source of information for patrons with questions regarding pool programs and hours of operation. The Pool Manager has facility opening and closing responsibilities during the morning, night, and weekend hours. The Pool Manager has supervisory duties over the scheduled guards. This position will ensure a safe and positive experience for all patrons.

Basic Function and Responsibilities:

  • Be visible and available as the first line of problem-solving.
  • Maintain written and oral communication with other staff members, supervisors, and administrative staff.
  • Maintain and promote a safe and fun environment for all participants and staff; also provide quality customer service to all patrons.
  • Read and become familiar with the Wheeling Parks & Rec Pool Handbook to obtain a level of understanding applicable to this position.
  • Perform procedures as outlined in the pool operator's manual.
  • Read and understand all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on all chemicals and testing agents.
  • Know the location and proper use of all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and safety supplies.
  • Maintain records of chemicals tests, routine maintenance, and adjustments made.
  • Perform duties such as pool vacuuming, general cleaning, hosing decks, balancing water chemistry, record keeping, general maintenance, and special projects as needed.
  • Suggest matters of concern, interest, and safety at in-service training, in the daily log, and to the Parks & Recreation Director or designee
  • Make phone calls as necessary to arrange for substitutions in emergencies and fill in if available.
  • Consult with Parks and Recreation Director or designee as needed on matters such as safety, lifeguard job performance, scheduling, and staff relations.
  • Maintain a clean aquatic environment for all patrons and staff.
  • Ensure the pool has proper displays, merchandise, and supplies.
