Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Stephania Cormier's laboratory, which investigates how early life exposures-such as allergens, pollutants, and respiratory viruses-contribute to the development and exacerbation of respiratory diseases in adulthood. Our research is highly translational, with direct relevance to conditions like acute respiratory distress syndrome.

We utilize clinical samples from critically ill children to identify molecular targets for mechanistic studies in vitro and in vivo. Current projects focus on the role of age in shaping humoral immune responses to respiratory syncytial virus.

Duties Include:

70% Perform general laboratory procedures including RNA/protein expression analysis, flow cytometry, and evaluation of pulmonary immune responses. Maintain laboratory exposure equipment.

10% Prepare/analyze data and draft manuscripts for publication of data.

10% Organize and quality-control data; Instruct undergraduate and graduate assistants in the laboratory.

5% Advanced tissue culture techniques including viral production and T/B cell activation assays.

5% Assist in preparing grants and administering budgets.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Biological Sciences or related.

Specific experience in virology, immunology, flow cytometry, qPCR

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Biological Sciences or related.

Specific experience with animal husbandry, knockout and transgenic mouse models, flow cytometry, immunology, advanced tissue culture techniques including viral production/titer, T cell activation assays, and mRNA purification and expression studies.
