OES Equipment, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is a fast-paced supply and rental equipment company in the construction industry. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Preconstruction Engineer to lead preconstruction efforts and drive business development for our Modular Solutions group. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of modular construction by combining technical expertise with strategic client engagement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing early-stage project planning, estimating, and client relationships to support the growth of our modular office solutions offering.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development of the conceptual and detailed cost estimates, schedules, and scope documents for modular construction projects.
  • Ability to look beyond the information that has been given, to ask the right questions and work to provide a complete project cost evaluation. Work with a team to provide accurate budgets.
  • Must be aggressive in providing innovative solutions to complex issues as they arise related to cost, lead-times, trade partners, and/or specified products or materials.
  • Must be able to collaborate with project team to establish the necessary staffing and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and internal teams to evaluate project feasibility and design optimization.
  • Owning procurement effort as will be required during the life of the project.
  • Conduct site assessments and coordinate permitting, code compliance, and utility planning.
  • Oversee bid solicitation as necessary, trade partner coordination, and vendor selection.
  • Ability to make reliable predictions as it relates to cost and be comfortable estimating across all scopes of work.
  • Support the transition from design to construction by ensuring accurate documentation and stakeholder alignment.
  • Implement value engineering strategies to improve cost efficiency and sustainability.

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in modular construction across commercial, industrial, and tech sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, and strategic partners.
  • Represent OES Equipment at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings to promote modular solutions.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop proposals, presentations, and promotional materials.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to inform strategic growth initiatives.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, materials, and building codes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Effective participation in team environment, with both external and internal teammates.
  • A strong work ethic and a "can-do" attitude.
  • Creative and innovative approaches and solutions on a project-by-project basis.
  • Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues. Makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, input, and judgement.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • 1-5 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project planning-preferably in modular or prefabricated construction.
  • Experience with modular or container-based construction systems.
  • Proven track record in business development or client-facing roles.
  • Proficiency in estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements

  • 5% - 25% travel for site inspections and project installations.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
