Job Description
- Troubleshoot complex PCAs at the component level (microcontrollers, op-amps, discrete analog and digital circuitry) using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and custom test setups.
- Perform rework and hands-on tasks such as soldering components, cable crimping, circuit board level rework, breadboarding.
- Investigate system, sub-assembly, and fixture failures and execute root cause analysis.
- Execute engineering-level testing, including data collection for design of experiments, device characterization, and verification and validation support.
- Contribute to NPI builds, electronics programming, test validation, and debug support to help shake out early-phase design issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, test, and quality engineers to identify and correct process defects.
- Train or mentor junior technicians and contribute to cross-training initiatives
- Document all work thoroughly in electronic notebooks or Confluence.
- Assist engineers with board bring-up, test, and debug of newly designed printed circuit boards.
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience in component-level troubleshooting of analog/digital PCAs; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- A.S. degree in Electronics, Electronics Engineering, Technology or related military training/education and experience preferred.
- High degree of technical expertise and skilled in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, fabrication and assembly drawings, and multi-layer printed circuit board layouts for troubleshooting purposes.
- Expert proficiency using oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Specialized experience in root cause analysis, failure investigations, and structured problem-solving.
- Demonstrated skills in soldering, rework, and mechanical/electromechanical repair.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience in regulated environments (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, or defense)
- Experience with motor control for robotics applications is desired.
- Experience with Altium Designer and Autodesk Eagle software suites and familiarity with scripting languages or basic test script modification are preferred.
