Job Description
As a Principal Engineering Designer in San Diego, CA, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside a talented, multi-disciplinary team on meaningful, landmark projects that shape the future of the region. As part of our Public Works Department, you’ll help clients and communities bring their visions to life, from designing critical infrastructure to enhancing the spaces where people live, work, and connect.
You’ll collaborate with engineers, planners, and project managers across diverse specialties, contributing to high-impact initiatives in transportation, water resources, land development, and civic improvements. Your expertise will guide design teams, mentor junior staff, and ensure that every project reflects technical excellence, sustainability, and innovation.

QualificationsCandidate will have BSCE plus four (4) years' experience in land development and/or public works design or the equivalent work experience of 8 years.Experience Must Include
- Ability to prepare grading, public improvement plans, water and sewer plans, and drainage and water quality plans from conceptual design to final plans.
- Ability to prepare and process technical studies and site plans to obtain entitlements for Public Works projects
- Preparation of specifications and Engineer’s Estimates
- Must have knowledge of jurisdictional codes, standards and procedures, preferably in San Diego County.
- AutoCad/Civil 3D experience required.
- Engineer-in-Training Certificate is required
