Leads, defines and owns the technical vision for a product with a cloud-first approach. Ensures IT capabilities are designed, built and deployed using technology best practices while ensuring cost effectiveness in delivery and total cost of ownership. Develops and owns technology roadmaps with emphasis on driving out complexity and ensuring the company can scale efficiently and effectively as it grows. Works with the various IT leaders and associates to define technology architectures to meet the business needs.
This position is hybrid in either St. Louis, Missouri; Mokena, Illinois; or Charlotte, North Carolina.
Principle Duties
Facilitates technology approach to requested new systems or enhancements while minimizing total cost of ownership.
Keeps abreast of industry trends, technology advancements and open source direction, and plays a lead role in developing the skills and knowledge of other technical resources within RGA.
Helps define and communicate RGA technology standards
Builds relationships with staff in all units (developers, BA, QA, and project managers) as well as with customers and strategic partners
Serves as a liaison between the development team and various IT stakeholders.
Seeks continuous performance improvement in technology solutions and ensures security of information
Gains proficiency in the system and the business to effectively transform business requirements into implementation strategies
Creates and implements effective metrics and monitoring processes
Coaches and mentors colleagues with less experience
Performs other duties as assigned
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent experience- Required
Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS)- Preferred
Work Experience
10+ years of development experience including automation- Required
Experienced in owning application architecture, modernization of applications/platforms, and integration architecture.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in multiple tools of the full stack covering frontend frameworks, databases and deployments- Required
Proficiency in a variety of modern programming languages- Required
Proficiency in a variety of modern automation tools and frameworks- Required
Experience and knowledge in transforming solutions to modern tech stacks and adapting them to a new architecture, including harmonizing customizations and shifting core processes to configurable components- Required
Experience with AI tools to analyze, modernize, and document code and procedures- Required
Experience with application modernization, including breaking monolith into components- Required
Experience with enterprise tools including Snowflake, UIPath, Retool, React, and TypeScript- Required
Experience with containerization- Required
Experience with load testing- Required
Experience with relational/NoSQL- Required
Experience with AWS, GCP or other cloud provider- Required
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies- Required
Demonstrated ability to lead small teams or projects- Required
Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information- Required
Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or difficult information- Required

Compensation Range:
$146,950.00 - $218,950.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
