Purpose of the Job:
The purpose of this job is to administer and maintain the process control systems and IT systems for both the INEOS and The Dow Chemical Company production plants.
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
Accountability 1:
SHE
Most important activities
Maintain and control the safe and efficient operation of the production unit using established operating disciplines and procedures.
Maintain safety as the highest priority of the plant
Maintain the 20 Principles of Safety
Adhere to and uphold all safety policies and standards
Ensure safety, PSM and environmental compliance is achieved
Complete assigned PHA and RCI action items
Responsible for maintaining the plant assets, control systems and protective systems integrity
Assist in investigating when deviations outside of the operating envelopes occur
Participate in the development control processes and training materials
Provide leadership in PSM and Environmental efforts including Process Hazard Analyses review, Management of Change process, LOPA and Risk Assessments
Maintain safety as the highest priority and understand and lead by example in all safety and environmental programs. Maintain and promote the 20 Principles of Safety and uphold all safety policies and standards
Conduct routine AsCare tours and participate in audits
Investigate incidents, abnormal conditions and lead/assist with root cause investigations
Complete all responsibilities as an Asset Engineer
Develop and maintain a list of critical assets and protective systems that must be maintained at the site
Develop and ensure compliance to a schedule to test critical assets and protective equipment.
Develop and ensure compliance to a procedure to impair/bypass safety protective systems
Accountability 2:
Manufacturing Excellence
Most important activities
Provide day-to-day process control support for the INEOS and Dow assets which includes preparation and support for unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups.
Troubleshoot process, process alarm, DCS and process control network issues
Regulatory and advanced control loop tuning and monitoring of control loop performance
Control strategy improvements
Daily process performance monitoring (e.g. quality, environmental, energy, stability, reliability, etc.)
Subject matter expert for the Dow proprietary control system.
Train/Support operation staff on reading and understanding the Dow MOD V process control codes
Support Capital projects as a process control representative
I/O assignment, redundancy, control philosophy development, design, documentation and implementation
Build and update all graphics, programs, or control schematics
Maintain and upgrade the control systems
Maintain/Modify all safety shutdown systems
Ensure identification, implementation and sharing of process control best practices
Participate in process control network troubleshooting and design
Provide process control support for the PSM process
Participate in HAZOPs and LOPA studies
Participate in alarm reduction, rationalization and documentation efforts
Understand and provide ownership of Alarm management system
Participate in the MOC process including leading appropriate MOCs
Participate in pre-startup safety reviews and lead appropriate PSSRs
Serve as a resource for Safety Instrumented Systems
Participate as a team member and lead incident investigations
Perform backups of control configuration files
Advanced Process Control (Regulatory and DMC)
Provides day-to-day support of both regulatory and APC applications
Perform routine checks of existing APC application performance
Train operators on the use of process control applications
Troubleshoot basic and regulatory control application problems
Work with the Dow process control engineer to develop code improvements including leading all code reviews for INEOS and code loads.
Work with Dow on maintaining the MOD V system, IP-21 servers and the VAX system
Work with the Dow IT group for server upgrades
Skills/Competencies
Education/Experience
- 2-year degree in control logic programming preferred
- 3 - 5 years of experience in process operations
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and write process control logic and logic diagrams
- Experience with Microsoft products
- PHA, LOPA, SIS knowledge
Behavioral Skills
- Good communications skills

- Good computer skills

Inside

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
