Due to our continued success, we are seeking a Procurement & Inventory Assistant in Cambridge, Ohio.
SUMMARY & SCOPE: The Procurement & Inventory Assistant supports the purchasing and inventory management activities for steel bridge fabrication and assembly projects. This role focuses on sourcing steel materials, components, and related services, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records to ensure timely production and delivery. Working closely with engineers, fabricators, project managers, and suppliers, the assistant ensures that all procurement and stock control processes meet project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in procuring steel materials (e.g. beams, plates, fasteners, structural components) and fabrication-related supplies.
Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with technical specifications, quantity requirements, and delivery schedules.
Monitor deliveries to ensure materials arrive on time and in good condition; follow up with suppliers as needed.
Maintain and update inventory records of all incoming and outgoing steel materials and components.
Conduct routine inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy between physical stock and system records.
Track material usage throughout the fabrication and assembly stages of the steel bridge project.
Coordinate with the engineering and fabrication teams to forecast material needs and avoid shortages or delays.
Support quality control by ensuring that all procured materials meet required standards and certifications.
Assist with sourcing and comparing suppliers for cost-effectiveness, quality, and reliability.
Update procurement and inventory tracking systems and generate regular reports on stock levels, usage rates, and order status.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 1+ years of related experience
Strong organizational skills, including prioritization and time management
Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments
Work with accuracy and strong attention to detail
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Office Programs
