ABOUT THE ROLE

The Procurement Officer - Data Center Equipment will oversee the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of hardware and infrastructure components critical to datacenter operations. This role requires strong vendor management skills, market knowledge, and a focus on aligning purchases with operational needs and budget goals. Existing relationships and network outreach for a strained supply chain is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source and procure datacenter equipment, medium voltage gear, transformers, chillers, cooling equipment, etc.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and delivery schedule.

  • Evaluate vendor performance and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify equipment specifications and requirements.

  • Manage procurement budgets, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with financial policies.

  • Monitor market trends and supply chain risks to ensure timely availability of equipment.

  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and inventory levels.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards for equipment procurement.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of procurement experience, preferably in datacenter equipment or MEP supply chain purchasing.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of datacenter equipment (e.g., servers, racks, UPS systems).

  • Familiarity with procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle NetSuite).

  • Understanding of supply chain logistics and vendor management.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Certifications (preferred): Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent.

Travel: Regular travel required. For suppliers, sites, and corporate gatherings.
