Description
The Product Engineer I aides the design engineering team with technical and non-technical support, including component characterization, creation and performance optimization, creation and refinement of simulation models debugging of components, test fixtures, and Evaluation Boards (EVBs), and data analysis. This role provides critical NPI project management and will facilitate the creation of production-level documentation, analyze and recommend improvements to production processes/methods to enable cost reductions and quality improvements. This individual will be responsible for bridging the gap between R&D and Production by supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects through a structured gated system and will engage internal and external resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, cost, and quality and in line with individual projects requirements and objectives.
- Management of projects to introduce new products and/or technologies.
- Monitor the catalog release status on pipeline and roadmap components and ensure the attainment percentage level targeted for the deployment to the market of the same.
- Provide engineering support for:
- Components characterization and qualification, assisted by QA, Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering test.
- Characterization and qualification of test fixtures, EVBs, and test setups, assisted by Manufacturing engineering.
- Performance optimization of Test Fixtures and EVBs.
- Correlation of Test Fixture to EVB performance.
- Creation of test plans and block diagrams, assisted by Engineering Test.
- First articles performance analysis.
- Assist in the efficient and cost-effective transition of design prototypes from engineering to production by:
- Debugging electrical test failures in the production environment and involving multi-disciplinary teams in the process, as required.
- Assisting in setting production-level specs and providing guidance on the overall production test strategy.
- Facilitating the release of production-level documentation.
- Support the Product Change Notice group in coordinating product development activities as needed.
- Ensure compliance with the Phase Gated Process, Engineering Change Order, and Catalog release processes.
- Analyze and recommend improvements to production processes and methods to facilitate cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Communicate new manufacturing and logistics process requirements to key stakeholders and report on the status of the developments of the same.
- Develop and implement efficient material handling, flow strategies, and good manufacturing practices at all times.
- Prepare status reports on all owned open projects.

Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with microwave theory coursework plus two years of relevant lab work in testing and/or tuning of RF components OR:
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on microwave circuit design plus one-year relevant lab work experience (preferred).
- Demonstrated project management capabilities (successful project management from inception to completion).
- Prior experience with SmartSheet is a plus.
- Real-world strong lab analysis and debug capabilities are required.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with basic statistical concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional and cross-functional teams to create & support the activities during the life cycle of products, from conception through production within stated time frames.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with component-level design practices, requirements, and budgeting is a plus.
- Familiarity with product development and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes is preferred.
- Prior experience modeling and simulating in Ansys HFSS is required.
- Knowledge of Matlab and Python is required.
- Knowledge of JMP Statistical software is preferred.
- Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, and DraftSight is a plus.
