Job Description

Production Technician

Kalogon, an early stage startup based in Melbourne, seeks a full-time Production Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work — assembling products, maintaining and improving machines, and helping develop new processes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, casual environment where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Kalogon products with precision and adaptability, including one-off custom assemblies and new product introductions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on production equipment; suggest and implement improvements to keep machines reliable and efficient.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, machines, and processes to support scaling production.
  • Modify and adapt equipment or processes to meet unique build requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvements aimed at reducing cycle time, improving consistency, and raising product quality.
  • Collaborate with R&D on prototypes and pilot builds, providing hands-on feedback to refine designs for manufacturability.

Required skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, machines, and processes.
  • Problem-solving mindset: able to diagnose issues, think on your feet, and create practical solutions.
  • Preferred: background in small-scale manufacturing, prototyping, or other hands-on technical environments (e.g. maker, technician, machinist, or fabrication experience).
  • Able to meet production deadlines while meeting quality standards

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and follow written instructions and procedures.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to complete digital forms or reports.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team-focused mindset.
