We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
Job Summary:
Assist the program director with coordination of the Surgical Professions degree and certificate programs, including assistance with facility and resource management, accreditation and regulatory compliance, curriculum development and maintenance, and overall program operations.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day management and evaluation of the program, facilities, and resources to accomplish safe and effective program delivery and coordination of discipline projects or activities.
- Assist in facilitating and resolving student complaints or concerns in a constructive, fair, and balanced manner in accordance with the college's values while working with faculty, adjunct faculty, academic advisors, the Dean of Students Office, and other departments as needed.
- Assist with the management of student applications and admission to the surgical professions' programs.
- Advise students in preparation for graduation, certification, and licensure process if applicable, including performing degree audits for program completion requirements. May serve as the first point of contact for current or prospective students.
- Assist with management of regulatory compliance associated with the program's field of practice and education, including implementation of college policy and division and program procedures, compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) standards and Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM), and compliance with program accreditation standards.
- Foster effective communication and teamwork among staff and faculty across the surgical professions' departments and division administrators.
- Evaluate lab resources to ensure adequate equipment, supplies, and technology are available to support instructional needs and maintain program quality.
- Engage in departmental and district-wide initiatives to recruit students and promote the Surgical Professions programs.

- Knowledge of the requirements for certification for each discipline in the Surgical Professions department

- Knowledge of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC-STSA) and Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) standards

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, plus stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Occasional physical effort required.
Requirements
Associate degree from an accredited institution and at least five (5) years of recent experience as a surgical technologist or surgical assistant in the operating room.
At least two (2) years of surgical technology or surgical assisting precepting experience in the clinical setting.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Licenses and Certifications
Must hold and maintain Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credentials from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Current member of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
