Job Description
Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is seeking an entry-level Project Accountant in our San Jose, California, Denver, Colorado, or Charlotte, North Carolina office. The Project Accountant is responsible for working with each business unit to manage all the financial information related to projects. This includes monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving project expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected. The Project Accountant will be the client interface for Project Managers while also being responsible for proactively analyzing and reporting on financial project administration, profitability, utilization, budgets, and accruals.Primary Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with Project Manager’s regarding contract documents, scope changes, contract amendments, approvals, financial status, and any additional services related to Projects.
- Assist with generating and interpreting financial records and statements for management and project managers – i.e. project profitability, opportunities for additional billings, remaining backlog available for projects.
- Respond to client requests and interface with clients to investigate project variances, all project expenses not billed to customers, and unpaid contract billings
- Create and close out opportunities and projects in NetSuite and Box.com as appropriate.
- Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders (primarily in Box.com).
- Create, review and/or approve: subcontractor invoices related to projects, all project-related billings to customers, write-off of any project-related billings that cannot be billed to or collected from customers.
- Assist with creating customer invoicing.
- Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
- 2+ years of experience, including internship experience in project accounting or related field
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, is a plus
- Knowledge of project contracts and change order documents
- Familiarity or experience with financial project tasks, including budget control, invoicing, or creating sales orders within ERP systems
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Experience with NetSuite and Box.com a plus
