Job Description
- Lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers and designers in creating ship installation drawings, 3d models, calculations, and engineering change artifacts.
- Design, analyze, and integrate systems for ships and boats, including C5ISR, Combat Systems, propulsion, piping, HVAC, and machinery arrangements.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with naval architects, structural engineers, electronics engineers, and production teams to ensure integration of systems.
- Perform marine engineering calculations related to power, structure, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and/or machinery performance.
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of systems onboard vessels.
- Conduct failure analysis, troubleshooting, and recommend design improvements.
- Participate in design reviews, supplier evaluations, and quality assurance processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in naval architecture.
- At least three (3) years of Project Management experience.
- Experience with computer applications relating to shipboard systems.
- Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
- Experience with 3D CAD programs: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Rhino, or equivalent.
- Experience with Project Management software such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, or Primavera.
- Experience managing project sites and task lists in Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.
- Proficient with common productivity software.
- Strong communications skills.
- Ideal experience will have been obtained in U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs.
- Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs or Naval Special Warfare Boats.
- Previous experience working with USCG Acquisitions, NAVSEA, SOCOM, or NIWC Atlantic.
