As a Project Estimator at Renewable Concepts, you’ll play a vital role in driving the success of our wind energy maintenance projects. You’ll use your estimating, scheduling, and data management skills to help project teams plan accurately and work efficiently.
This in-office position can be based in Neodesha, KS, (preferred), Overland Park, KS, or Duncan, SC. We’re looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, is detail oriented and is ready to contribute to a growing company, in the renewable energy industry.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for participating in estimating process and developing complete, accurate, and competitive proposals that meet technical requirements and RFP criteria. The position supports safe, high-quality project execution by applying strong technical acumen, disciplined financial management, and a commitment to continuous improvement throughout the bid development process.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Technical Acumen
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define project scope, estimating responsibilities, required estimate content, and critical execution activities.
- Develop maintenance execution plans and preliminary project schedules that define sequencing, crew sizes, productivity assumptions, and resource requirements to support safe and efficient project delivery.
Financial Management
- Research and analyze historical cost data, productivity metrics, purchase orders, and subcontract information to strengthen estimate reliability and establish financial benchmarks for future projects.
Quality Control & Risk Management
- Ensure estimating practices, documentation, and assumptions meet internal quality standards and contractual requirements.
- Identify potential cost, schedule, and execution risks during the estimating phase and incorporate mitigation strategies into bid proposals.
Continuous Improvement & Sustainability
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned, productivity trends, and cost data to refine estimating processes and improve future bid accuracy.
- Promote sustainable practices.
Requirements
- High school or GED required, associate’s degree preferred.
- Strong experience in Microsoft Excel is required and Microsoft Power Platform strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two years of estimating experience in renewable energy maintenance services (wind strongly preferred), or four years of hands-on estimating experience in other heavy or industrial environments.
- Must be comfortable working with project management teams.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, contracts, purchase orders, and cost coding systems.
- Working knowledge of estimating practices, cost control methods, and scheduling principles.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems such as Deltek Costpoint.
- Prior experience supporting renewable energy maintenance projects.
