Property Maintenance Specialist I - Custodian

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Property Maintenance Specialist I - Custodian position. This position is Monday - Friday on day shift (6:00am-2:30pm or 7:00am-3:30pm) and the starting wage is $20.00 per hour. As a Property Maintenance Specialist I, a typical day might include the following:

• With close guidance, perform daily custodial maintenance duties of basic complexity including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, trash removal and appropriate response to requests as needed.

• Buff, polish, scrub, strip and refinish hard-surface floors using heavy equipment.

• Assist with grounds keeping, personnel moves, and routine deliveries and stocking as directed.

• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; perform routine maintenance as required.

• Follow and continuously improve workplace safety, environmental practices, area processes, and waste reduction opportunities.

This job might be for you if you:

• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent

• Are able to operate custodial related equipment and use applicable chemicals, supplies, hand, and power tools with guidance.

• Have previous experience as a floor care technician or in related role preferred.

• Are able to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

• Are able to work various shifts, hours, and days depending on workload.

• Possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, and equipment installation.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks and projects.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and maneuver 40 pounds frequently

• Pull weight from high/low shelves

• Ability to safely ascend and descend ladders

• Reach, bend, grip, twist

• Stand for at least 8 hours

Pay Range Data

New hires generally start at $20.00 per hour. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
