Grounded is Hiring a Prototype Vehicle Electrical Technician!
Detroit, MI | On-Site | Contract-to-Hire$22.00 – $32.00 per hour

Our mission is to enable people to live, work, and explore anywhere—sustainably. We’re a small, agile team of engineers, designers, and fabricators passionate about pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology.
What You’ll Do
- Lead prototype electrical integration for Grounded’s specialty vehicle upfits
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to test, wire, and assemble custom electrical components
- Interpret and apply electrical schematics and shop drawings
- Assist in rapid iteration and troubleshooting of prototype builds in a fast-paced environment
- Work extended hours and weekends as needed to ensure product delivery
Requirements
Requirements (Must-Have)
- Willing to relocate to the Detroit area if not already nearby
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of combined experience in electrical prototyping and/or trades work
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs unassisted
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required
Preferred Experience (Nice-to-Have)
- Specialty vehicle electrical systems experience
- Harness fabrication experience
- Familiarity with NFPA 1192 or similar electrical standards
- Ability to read and create engineering drawings
- Prototyping and quick iteration experience
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
Benefits
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay: $22.00 – $32.00
- Contract-to-hire (initial 3 months) with potential full-time conversion
- 5 days paid sick time during the contract
