Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer

Location: Portland HQ/ Hybrid or Remote

Position Overview:

Reporting to the VP of Product Portfolio and Delivery, VETRO is looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer with experience in modern testing practices and frameworks to join our team.  As a QA Engineer, you will help mature the overall quality, reliability, and functionality of VETRO applications and platforms in order to deliver the next generation of GIS fiber management software.

Key Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Help mature the overall quality, reliability, and functionality of VETRO applications and platforms

  • Apply best practices for ensuring quality software, including automated testing

  • Share expertise in testing methods, including writing scenarios, with others on the team, including developers

  • Document and automate test cases so they are repeatable and linked to application code

  • Collaborating with developers on test cases and help ensure smooth delivery of value to our customers

Qualifications:

  • Passion for quality, collaboration, teamwork, and agility

  • Experience with AWS, Node, PostgreS, and JS-based applications

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to find actionable solutions to complex problems

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, positive, and supportive environment, and contribute to our culture of learning

  • Understanding of how agile teams test their work and ensure quality

  • Enthusiasm to work on new things, jump in, and contribute

  • Knowledge of front-end testing frameworks

  • Preferred:

    • Experience with GIS data or mapping applications

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in relevant field

Work Environment:

  • This role has the ability to either work in our Portland, ME HQ or hybrid

  • In a hybrid role you are expected to have a designated space that is conducive to productivity and conducting confidential video calls. VETRO will assist with technology needed to set up your home office, as well as offer a semi-monthly internet stipend. While working remotely, you are expected to be distraction-free from non-work responsibilities during working hours.
