About the Position
The company is seeking an experienced On-Site QA/QC Manager to support active projects throughout Orange County. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing project-specific Quality Assurance / Quality Control plans to ensure all work meets contract documents, applicable codes, and the company's internal quality standards.
The QA/QC Manager will be on-site whenever construction activities are in progress and will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, subcontractors, and external stakeholders. This position requires proven experience on large-scale projects ranging from $25M to $300M+, along with the flexibility to travel or accept temporary project assignments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive project-level QA/QC plans, including inspection, testing, and compliance procedures
- Perform regular inspections of materials, workmanship, and equipment to ensure adherence to contract documents, codes, and MATT standards
- Identify, document, and resolve non-conforming work in collaboration with project leadership and subcontractors
- Collect, analyze, and maintain quality control data; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans
- Train project teams and subcontractors on quality control procedures and best practices
- Proactively identify quality-related risks and implement preventative measures to minimize defects and rework
- Partner with Project Management and Estimating teams to evaluate supplier and vendor performance
- Coordinate with the project scheduler to ensure QA/QC activities are properly reflected in the construction schedule
- Monitor incoming materials for compliance, storage, and specification requirements
- Lead preparatory meetings, inspections, punch list walk-downs, and quality control meetings
- Review and approve quality-related submittals and documentation
- Serve as the project quality liaison with owners, inspectors, and regulatory agencies
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental requirements
- Stay current with industry advancements and contribute to continuous improvement of QA/QC processes
Requirements
- 10+ years of construction experience, including 5+ years in a QA/QC role
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering preferred (experience considered in lieu of degree)
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques
- In-depth understanding of construction processes, codes, regulations, and industry best practices
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and identify issues within construction drawings and specifications
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills across diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to quality
- Proficiency with MS Office, Procore, and construction management software
- QA/QC certifications preferred but not required
