Job Description

Job Title:              Quality Assurance ManagerClassification:     ExemptDepartment:      Quality AssuranceReports to:          Operations ManagerPosition Summary:Plans, coordinates, implements, and directs Quality Assurance programs designed to ensure the production process from purchased raw material to final product is consistent with established standards; develops, implements, maintains, and updates Quality Assurance records.Key Responsibilities:
  • Requires constant physical activities throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying aluminum products up to 50 lbs.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains IATF16949 Quality Assurance programs, procedures, controls, and related audits in all departments.            
  • Ensures that performance and quality of products conform to established company standards
  • Coordinates and approves all sample submissions of new products and engineering changes to ensure quality standards.
  • Coordinates with suppliers to ensure purchased material meets quality standards.
  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with pre-productions and production procedures in cooperation with other department managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Controls maintenance of inspection and testing procedures for raw materials to ensure quality standards
  • Daily inspects parts in production process for defects and keeps records.
  • Responsible for developing inspection standards to instruct QA Technicians for the inspection of product at all production processes. These inspections include destructive and non-destructive methods ultrasound, eddy current, spectro-analysis, micro/macro inspection and dimensional checks. Also, notifies department managers and supervisors to correct quality problem; performs follow up inspection to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Makes out quality control inspection records on rejected products showing date, run number, department, product type, and reason for the rejection
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge in the techniques of Quality   Assurance and in the company products and process technologies; oversees quality assurance auditing of production areas and systems; reviews reports findings and make recommendations for corrective action; continuous process improvement.
  • Submits and administers budget schedules and performance standards; plans, promotes, and organizes training activities. Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance; responsible for ensuring that employees follow all company guidelines related to health, Safety and Environmental practices.
  • Implements employee training, monitors training, evaluates skill levels,    and development of QA employees.
  • Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Create and maintain department budget.
  • Performs other duties as required
Skills & Competencies:
  • Reading details and schematics, organizational, supervisory, computer, mathematical, and statistical skills
  • Observes OSHA, EPA, and Company rules and regulations concerning personal safety
  • Enforces company policies
  • Regularly exposed to temperature extremes
  • Maintains and cleans work area and reports maintenance problems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic english
  • ability to follow instructions
Education & Experience:
  • College degree and 3-5 years experience preferred in forging and casting products for automotive industry
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, precision measurement, process validation, supplier quality, product testing, training and development, and process capability studies.
