Job Description

Quality Control Inspector

This is an onsite position at our Thornton, Colorado location.  Local candidates will be given preference.  No relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary

Forge Nano Inc. is a fast-growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano-scale coatings across a wide range of markets. Forge Nano is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join their Manufacturing Team. This position covers a broad range of duties, including qualifying new generation Atomic Layer Deposition equipment, testing equipment, completing documentation, provide continuous improvements, and helping with facility tasks.  

The Quality Control Inspector should be prepared to work in a fast-paced development and prototyping environment. The role requires a detailed oriented individual who is comfortable working with an interdisciplinary manufacturing and Engineering team. 

Skills and Responsibilities

The Quality Control Inspector may be responsible for tasks and skills such as (non-exhaustive): 

  • Inspect and record incoming material history records. 
  • Perform accurate visual, dimensional, mechanical, and/or functional inspection of materials per inspection drawings, and other specification requirements. 
  • Create inspection templates, verify revision aligns with updated drawings.  
  • Read and interpret specifications, schematics, and/or design drawings. 
  • Initiate material non-conformance reports, as required. Ensure that the report contains accurate and sufficient detail of compliance or the cause(s) of failure and recommended correction(s). 
  • Work with other personnel, both internal and external suppliers, to effectively resolve inspection questions and/or issues. 
  • Review in-process and final production by confirming specifications and documenting results. 
  • Clean and prepare inspected parts for cleanroom use. 
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Familiar with geometry and trigonometry (machine shop math). 
  • Previous visual and mechanical inspection background with the ability to use basic hand measurement tools (Calipers, micrometers, etc.), as well as higher precision measuring, optical inspection, and/or non-destructive evaluation equipment. 
  • Calibrate and audit measurement tools.  
  • Desire exposure, training and application of Lean & 6 Sigma fundamentals.  Certification is preferred. 
  • Equipment for functional testing (motors, heaters, etc.) 
  • Prefer understanding / exposure to typical automotive tools like DFM, FMEA, QCP, PPAP, and 8D. 
  • Experience with vacuum equipment, industrial automation, and industrial fabrication processes are all desirable skillsets. 

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Associate's degree "≥" or Trade School Equivalent. 
  • Experience with hand tools, precision instruments, and analysis tools 
  • Experience with Office Products: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. 
  • 3 to 5+ years in Manufacturing or Inspection Environment. 

Work Environment

Work will predominately be in a manufacturing or office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be around or handling hazardous chemicals, and powders at times. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, and in the plant a hard hat. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required.

The employee occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Lifting upwards of 50lbs will be required periodically. 

Travel

No travel is expected to be required for this position. 

Compensation/Benefits

  • 26.00 - 32.00 Hourly depending on qualifications
  • Eligible for overtime with manager approval
