Job Description
The X-Ray/Lab Tech is responsible for providing age specific care, education, imaging procedures, and lab services in conjunction with other members of the defined health care team. The X-Ray/Lab Tech works within safety standards and regulatory requirements, participates in quality control and performance improvement activities, maintains own clinical competency and mandatory education requirements.
Education and Formal Training: Completion of an accredited educational program in radiologic technology. Maintain a certificate and/or diploma from the radiologic technology program, and be certified/registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current certification in CPR. New employees required to have certification will be expected to have current certification at new hire or obtain BCLS within 30 days of hire date. Completion of general and job specific orientation program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Actively functions as a patient advocate. Must have thorough knowledge of all necessary patient assessment techniques, treatment techniques and the operation and maintenance of all unit specific equipment, computer terminals, printers, and facsimile machines. Knowledge of current hospital emergency policies and procedures including fire, safety, disaster, and infection control policies. Excellent communication and administrative skills are necessary.
