Job Description
Position Summary:
The Receiving Inspector is responsible for the inspection and monitoring of all production materials used at Resistoflex - while maintaining a constant flow from receiving dock to warehouse stock. The Receiving Inspector will utilize various inspection gauges to assess the conformity of a part to its drawing/blueprint. In addition to the incoming inspection responsibilities, they will also help the RAN Team validate incoming returns/failures, and assign corrective actions as needed. The Receiving Inspector will also assist the Quality Manager by performing Quality Audits, Continuous Improvement activities (JDIs/Kaizens/Projects), and advanced problem solving when issues arise on the production floor.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
- Pull the appropriate blueprint and inspection sheet to check incoming products with measuring instruments for verification of blueprint compliance.
- In accordance with the receiving inspection procedures, test procedures may be performed in receiving inspection or assigned to the test lab on incoming products.
- Operate the Rockwell Hardness Tester to evaluate the hardness of the hardened and soft steel according to the receiving inspection procedures on all incoming products.
- Keep quality supervision, supply chain, and manufacturing management informed with quality problems on all products.
- Perform the first piece inspection on some in house products according to manufacturing inspection procedures.
- Perform First Article Inspection on new production supplies to qualify suppliers.
- Perform Positive Material Identification (PMI) using the Alloy Analyzer on incoming materials as required by the procedure and customer orders as required.
- Maintain Low-Cost Country (LCC) schedule by pulling appropriate products from inventory, request requisition for external test lab testing and notification to supply chain / suppliers of results.
- Perform in house random audits of manufacturing quality procedures and the quality of products in finished goods.
- Process products that do not meet the inspection requirements according to the receiving inspection procedures (i.e., contact supplier for disposition and completed Debit Memo).
- Place the appropriate paperwork with products that pass inspection and move them to the stock staging area.
- Assists Quality Assurance Manager with third party inspections and audits.
- Assists manufacturing in resolving technical problems by interpreting standards and procedures.
- Evaluates, reports, and assigns corrective action as necessary on returned materials from customers.
- Requires lifting to 50 lbs.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ability to read measuring instruments not limited to, but including tape measure, O.D. tape measure, micrometers, calipers, Alloy Analyzer, Rockwell hardness tester, optical comparator, ultra sonic tester, and a protractor.
- Ability to perform material handling functions using hand trucks, carts and forklifts within the work area and the plant.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish goals based on experience and judgment.
- Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends on occasion if needed.
- Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and outside professionals.
- Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, six sigma, and 5S practices.
- Use of statistical software (i.e., Minitab).
- Strong background in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other related quality standards is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to understand process & product specifications.
- Basic understanding of industrial assembly, fabrication, and machining processes.
