Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The OCOM Receptionist/Security is a Dual Roll Position, responsible for greeting guests, students, faculty, and staff, answering phones, taking messages, coordinating tours and events, working Security at the front desk and partnering with the on-duty Security Officers in the building. Being an ambassador for OCOM. The receptionist follows all policies and procedures and completes some clerical duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greeting guests, students, faculty, and staff
- Assists all persons seeking directions, information, or assistance.
- Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service demeanor towards co-workers and members of the OCOM Community.
- Creates a sense of safety and security on OCOM Campus managing the visitor sign in and background check system
- Observes all infractions of College rules and regulations that may cause
- harm to persons or property
- Answers the phone, determine the purpose of calls and direct calls appropriately and/or relay accurate messages.
- Coordinating event scheduling and facility Set-ups
- Writes reports and maintains appropriate documentation, conduct
- follow-up investigations, including daily security reports; inspects public safety equipment; and monitors radio transmissions and responds to ongoing incidents concerning the safety and security of the campus community
- Knowledge of how the campus Clery Act works and reports within that framework
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly, using OCOM technologies and adapt innovative organizational practices
- Interviews persons involved or witness incidents/crimes committed on
- campus
- Being an ambassador for OCOM
- Responsible for checking and responding to emails and tasks daily
- Must be able to take direction and receive assignments to help OCOM on a daily basis;
- Must be available for work during the hours assigned;
- Contribute directly to the Mission of OCOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the OCOM selected activities;
- Maintain Atrium in an organized fashion
- Answer questions about the organization and provide callers with address, directions and other information.
- Maintain a log for tracking issues as well as the date and time of acceptable resolution. Maintain a calendar for conference rooms, telephone/directory of all employees.
- Accept other duties needed/assigned.

QUALIFICATION(S):

- Previous Law Enforcement experience preferred.
- Previous law enforcement and/or security training Preferred
- Experience in a college or university is preferred.
- Class D - Florida licensed security preferred
- Adaptable and Flexible to the needs of the OCOM community as they change.
- This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting,
- bending, pushing, pulling greater than 50 lbs and/or extended walking and
- standing. This position will have a uniform
- Strong interpersonal skills to build working partnerships with faculty, staff, and
- students as well as external parties including
- Ability to de-escalate conflict situations and a demeanor that is perceived as
- professional yet calm and relaxed.
- A high level of professional ethics and personal integrity.
- Excellent clear and concise communication skills required.
- Must have a valid Florida driver's license and safe driving record.
- Must successfully pass a personal background,
- Experienced in using various Safety Department equipment (two-way radio,
- cameras, computers, etc.).
- Ability Respond to campus emergency, priority, and routine calls for service
- Trained first responder in first aid/CPR/AED or the ability to be trained
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be local to the Central Florida area.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Proficiency with Apple/Mac products and software and Google Workspace applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to contribute to the OCOM culture
- Strong oral and written communication skills
