Job Duties (duties may vary based on region and location)

  • Making patient referrals which includes initiating referrals, verifying insurance eligibility, and obtaining necessary authorizations
  • Ensure that patients are referred to the appropriate specialists based on their medical needs
  • Act as a liaison between patients, primary care physicians, and specialists, ensuring that all necessary medical information is shared effectively
  • Matching bills with all supporting docs once charges are entered and bills printed (per day and provider)
  • Mailing/faxing of bills, and scanning completed faxed bills

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Ability to maintain a strong confidentiality profile
  • Ability to form interpersonal relationships (i.e. establish rapport with others)
  • Ability to manage time effectively by setting priorities
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial for coordinating between various parties involved in patient care

  • Organizational Skills. Referral coordinators must manage multiple referrals and appointments efficiently, requiring excellent organizational abilities

  • Attention to Detail: They need to ensure that all documentation is accurate and complete to comply with healthcare regulations

  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to navigate complex insurance processes and resolve issues is essential for this role

Physical/Mental Requirements

Sitting, standing, walking, reaching above shoulder length, working with body bent over at waist, working in kneeling position, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, working with arms extended at shoulder length, lifting max. of 20 lbs.
