Job Summary:
The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and managing customer relationships within the assigned territory. This role combines new business development with account management across private, municipal, and county markets. The ideal candidate is a proactive sales leader with strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and execute sales activities within the assigned territory to achieve revenue and market growth objectives.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining and expanding relationships with existing accounts.
- Prepare detailed proposals, deliver persuasive presentations, and lead contract negotiations to secure new business.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and association meetings (including evening events as required).
- Utilize Salesforce CRM to manage pipeline activity, forecast sales, and track performance against goals.
- Provide training, support, and guidance to dealer networks; collaborate with dealers to maximize sales opportunities.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional "after the sale" service and ongoing support.
- Travel extensively throughout the territory, including frequent overnight stays, to meet with customers, dealers, and partners.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful sales experience, preferably in the waste management, heavy equipment, or related industry.
- Strong public speaking, negotiation, and closing skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Proficient with laptops, Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and mobile communication tools.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory, including overnight stays.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods (driving, flights, meetings) and remain physically active throughout trade shows, customer visits, and equipment demonstrations.
- Capability to lift and carry marketing materials, product samples, and trade show displays (typically up to 25 lbs).
- Adequate vision, hearing, and communication ability to perform presentations, demonstrations, and in-person/virtual meetings.
- Comfort working in both office settings and outdoor environments (such as customer yards, waste facilities, or equipment lots).
- Combination of office, home office, and field-based work, with frequent travel to customer sites, dealer locations, and industry events.
- Regular exposure to industrial and outdoor environments including waste management facilities, municipal yards, and equipment demonstrations (which may involve noise, odors, or varying weather conditions).
- Professional interaction required with municipal officials, private sector executives, and dealer partners across diverse settings.
- Flexibility to attend evening or weekend industry events, trade shows, or association meetings as needed.
