Job Description:

A vacancy for a research associate is open in Fan Zhang's laboratory at Louisiana State University. The primary focus of our research is to discover genetic factors involved in host-microbiome interactions, employing C. elegans as model organisms. We are looking for a candidate to join our team and assist the Principal Investigator with standard laboratory procedures, contribute to the development of research projects.

Research Associate 1 Duties:

80% Organize and maintain standard lab operating procedures, including lab orders/budgets, package receipt and shipment, equipment upkeep, and organization of reagents.

20% Develop research project to identify genetic factoring in modulating host-microbiome interactions in C. elegans. Scientific techniques will include microbial cultures, microscopy, microbial and worm genetics, dataset visualization.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with microbial cultures, molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR), high throughput assays development, or working with invertebrate model organisms.

Research Associate 2 Duties:

50% Organize and maintain standard lab operating procedures, including lab orders/budgets, package receipt and shipment, equipment upkeep, and organization of reagents.

50% Develop research project to identify genetic factoring in modulating host-microbiome interactions in C. elegans. Scientific techniques will include microbial cultures, microscopy, microbial and worm genetics, dataset visualization.
