Job Summary:

The LOSC Research Climatologist (Assistant Professor- Research) must be an aggressive self-starter with a proven track record of applied research in the weather/climate sciences.

Job Responsibilities:

70% Lead research efforts and drive the expansion of the LOSC's suite of data products and tools, with a focus on web-based interfaces. Additionally, lead the development of sophisticated computer code for innovative data products and derivatives as defined by the State Climatologist and the LOSC team.

25% Integrate LOSC resources with LSU faculty to support applied and original research initiatives.

5% Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D in a related field.

Specific Experience:

Strong working knowledge in the computer sciences and geo-mapping analysis. Proven track record of applied research in the weather/climate sciences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D in a related field.

Specific Experience:

M.S. in Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences or M.S. in Physical/Environmental Sciences with a Weather/Climate Concentration. Strong working knowledge in the computer sciences and geo-mapping analysis. M.S. in Computational Sciences will be considered with a demonstration of experience in managing weather/climate data.
