Overview
Reporting to Leadership of the Data Management Unit at the Yale Center for Analytic Sciences (YCAS) the Programmer Analyst 2 will provide direct support for research projects and clinical trials, including electronic database form design, data management, and data analysis for the clinical investigators at the Yale School of Medicine, Yale School of Public Health, and Veteran Affairs of West Haven.
The successful candidate:
Will maintain policies and procedures for ensuring data security and integrity as required by CFR21 Part 11 FDA Compliance
Develop compliance and progress reports for clinical trials for submission to FDA
Collaborates with researchers to make data analysis understandable and provides instruction and training on database usage and data analysis techniques as appropriate
Works with varied data sources including self-reported questionnaires, ecologic momentary assessment, EHR, claims, VA administrative, etc. YCAS Projects will include assisting with DSMB reporting, as well as working on Veteran Affairs Projects
Manage several routine research projects simultaneously and ensures that the design, testing, implementation, and prioritization objectives are met.
Provides guidance and expertise at all stages of the research process including data management, analysis and visualization
Documents database procedures and policies and resolves complex protocol issues in existing databases. Works closely with study Principal Investigators to develop detailed data management data and data analysis plans for implementation
Carry out electronic database forms design, data management, and introductory analyses for many types of data and types of studies including clinical trials and biomarker studies
Works directly with research personnel to identify and resolve technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and create reports. Manage client expectations by communicating directly with staff to understand goals and solve user problems
Develop and implement relevant data management procedures and statistical programs to incorporate data from multiple projects and/or sources
Create reports for data quality and facilitate data management meetings with experts within and outside the university
Ensure accuracy of data reporting across various analytical tools and multiple data sources; serve as the primary point of contact for questions and queries,troubleshooting, etc.
In preparation of research grant applications and articles, supply investigators with expertise pertaining to data management, data analysis, and validity
Prepare written reports that summarize the process and results of data query and error checks for multi-site clinical trials and biomarker studies, interpret the findings and provide conclusions and recommendations
Required Skills and Abilities
1.Proven expertise in data management, research studies and methodology, data analysis, and related software applications, such as SAS, SPSS, R, electronicdata management systems.
2.Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task by setting working priorities among a number of conflicting demands. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
3.Ability to work in a collaborative environment with the Biostatistics team and clinical investigators having differing quantitative and clinical backgrounds.Well-developed communication skills with the ability to form strong relationships.
Possess an understanding of research protocols as related to study design, data modeling, data collection, data management electronic system design, and statistical analysis with the ability to bring projects to conclusion in a timely manner.

Principal Responsibilities
- Develops programs or systems of small to moderate size and complexity. Modifies existing systems at all levels of difficulty. 2. Provides informational input into decisions concerning the development and delivery of applications, programs and systems. Defines and analyzes requirements to meet the expectations of stakeholders and intended end users needs, scheduled timeline, and budgetary targets. 3. Analyzes, defines and designs new systems and applications. Writes code in support of business solutions. 4. Responsible for the creation, definition, communication, and management of project plans which includes architectural design, technology selection and methodologies to apply. 5. Troubleshoots problems and provide ongoing maintenance and support for applications and systems. 6. Prepares documentation, user manuals and develops formal proposals for new systems and modifications to existing systems. Mentors technical staff and provide training for end users. 7. Contributes in the development of policies or modifications to exiting policies. 8. Applies and keeps current with existing and emerging technologies and methodologies. Provides ongoing input to the establishment of programming standards, procedures, and methodologies. 9. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in analysis and programming of small to medium scale systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
