Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data.

Essential Functions
- Technician will work collaboratively with lab members to generate data for publications for various ongoing projects in the lab. This will require the technician to learn, practice, and master various lab techniques including tissue processing, IF histology, and confocal microscopy.
- Catalog, wean, and document mice and their usage in the lab.
- Responsible for laboratory upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment. Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment including chemicals, biological materials, cell stocks, liquid nitrogen tanks, gas tanks, etc.
- Perform routine cell culture techniques, including cell passage, freezing, and thawing.
- Collect and document project data; process, organize and summarize data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications such as Prism.
- Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned by the PI or lab manager as needs arise.
- Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures.
- Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
- Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results.
- Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
- Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology or related major required.
- Must be willing and able to work with mice in a research setting. Prior experience working with mice is a plus but not required.
- Must be able to commit two years to the position.
- Prior research experience, including undergraduate research experience, is preferred but not required.
Experience
- Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with strong written and verbal communications skills.
- The ability to work independently after initial training with minimum supervision and discuss progress of work regularly with supervisor.
- Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and follows SOP strictly.
- Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data using basic statistics.
- Analyze, visualize, and document experimental data in electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Familiar with various computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Adobe, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.
