Job Description
Respiratory Therapist – Per Diem (Variable Shift)
Location: Anacortes, WASchedule: 0.0 FTE / Per Diem | Variable ShiftsSalary Range: $36.65 – $54.97 per hour
Differentials:
Nights – $2.75 per hour
Evenings – $2.25 per hour
Weekends – $2.00 per hour

At Island Health, our Respiratory Therapists are trusted clinical partners who play a vital role in helping patients breathe easier and recover stronger. In this per diem role, you’ll work alongside a collaborative care team to deliver safe, high-quality respiratory care to patients of all ages across inpatient and emergency settings.
What You’ll Do
Set up and manage ventilators, non-invasive ventilation devices, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol therapy
Perform diagnostic testing, including ECGs, pulmonary function testing, and arterial blood gas analysis
Initiate and document Respiratory Assessment Protocols, communicate findings, and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans
Provide airway clearance therapies, breathing exercises, and patient education
Inspect and maintain respiratory equipment for safe operation
Participate in patient transport while monitoring respiratory status
Arrange and coordinate home oxygen services following hospital protocol
Complete daily billing/charging procedures accurately within Meditech
What You’ll Bring
Current Washington State License to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from NBRC
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care
