Job Description
About Panavision:The Panavision group supports filmmakers working on movies, television series, commercials, and beyond, providing: filmmaking equipment rentals for lenses, cinema cameras, grip, and lighting, stage facilities for filming, post-production services including dailies, visual effects, and final color grading and much more.The RTR Mechanical Service Technician is responsible for servicing equipment to the required standards of safety, functionality, and presentation to meet rental schedules. They are also responsible for following departmental procedures in an effective, efficient, and productive manner with the minimum amount of direct supervision. This position falls under Local 210.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality checks and maintenance practices on camera support equipment and mechanical accessories.
- Examine, clean, test and perform basic adjustments of camera support equipment within a specified time.
- Maintain organization of fluid heads, camera support and mechanical accessories within inventory.
- Adjust equipment to client specifications where necessary.
- Troubleshoot and identify problems with equipment and determine appropriate action.
- Create and update damage or repair tickets for equipment in need of further attention.
- Maintain detailed documentation of serviced gear.
- Track inventory of mechanical accessories to maintain rental supply levels.

- Camera Support Accessories
- Camera Accessories (Matte Boxes, etc.)
- Miscellaneous Mechanical Accessories
- Assist in the daily transfer of equipment from Logistics to Inventory/Prep Floor.
- Work closely with prep, rental, and marketing departments to balance resources to meet demand.
- Use proprietary information systems to prioritize equipment in need of service.
- Maintain a working inventory of hardware, tools, supplies and replacement parts.
- Track and report inventory shortages to Management.
- Assist Clients and Staff with technical questions and issues.
- Learn and adapt with new technological trends and equipment.
- Other tasks and assignments as required.
- Ability to maintain high performance standards and output under strict time constraints.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proper use of hand tools and power tools.
- Basic understanding and working knowledge of mechanical repair procedures, blueprints, parts lists, and schematics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of common camera rental practices.
- General working knowledge of Panavision’s equipment and inventory.
- Basic understanding of film industry set call procedures and etiquette.
- Ability to remain flexible toward change.
- Safe handling of solvents and other chemicals.
- Safe handling of sharp and other potentially dangerous equipment.
- Safe manual lifting techniques. Able to lift as much as 50lbs. on a consistent basis.
- Knowledge of current workplace safety standards.
- Enforcement and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if required.
