Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Maintain and update Safety Management System. Maintain safety records, reports, and logs; prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
  2. Monitor, implement, and improve safety programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
  3. Track safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  4. Conduct assigned projects, surveys, risk assessments, audits, and inspections.
  5. Provide support for Occupational Health Nurses as needed, including but not limited to first aid.
  6. Audit and observe employee behavior and PPE usage in work areas.
  7. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions/practices and work with the team to develop corrective action.
  8. Assist in developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Safe Work Procedures.
  9. Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented.
  10. Follow up on corrective action to ensure implementation and effectiveness.
  11. Verify contractors and subcontractors comply with site safety requirements.
  12. Support emergency response planning and lead or participate in drills.
  13. Develop safety committee meetings.
  14. Production floor presence daily/weekly.
  15. Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and onboarding safety orientations for new hires.
  16. Promote safety awareness among employees.
  17. Reprioritize shifting workload as necessary.
  18. Create positive work relationships, resolve issues at the lowest level possible.
  19. Perform associated administrative duties.
  20. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on occupational health and safety matters for all departments.
  1. Perform other duties as required.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Requires the ability to understand and maintain various safety programs and applicable law, HR software, organizational and administrative skills. Must be familiar with company policies and procedures.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

A strong understanding of OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable health and safety regulations.

Must be able to identify hazards, conduct thorough risk assessments, and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Proficiency in incident investigation, including root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions, is essential.

The ability to deliver clear and engaging safety training, write concise procedures, and communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel is critical to success in this role.

Strong leadership skills are required to promote a positive safety culture and influence safe behavior across all levels of the organization.

Analytical thinking for interpreting safety data and identifying trends to drive continuous improvement.

Highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities and maintaining accurate compliance records.

Technical proficiency with safety management systems and standard office software, such as Microsoft Office.

Sound conflict resolution skills, particularly when addressing noncompliance issues.

Knowledge of emergency preparedness and response planning along with a high level of attention to detail in inspections and documentation.

The ability to collaborate effectively with operations teams, HR, and leadership ensuring safety is integrated into all aspects of the organization.
